We live in an era where the news cycle is often dominated by global crises - climate instability, economic uncertainty, and social disconnection. It is easy to feel overwhelmed when looking at the big picture.
But if you look closer, specifically at the street level, something else is happening.
Here in the Blue Mountains, on the edge of a World Heritage wilderness and the frontlines of the climate shift, a different story is being written. It is a story of resilience, regeneration, and radical community cooperation.
This is a new publication dedicated to positive local news with a global mission. We believe that many of the answers to our biggest global challenges are currently being found in small community halls, backyard permaculture plots, and local businesses right here in our incredible region.
What is The Blueprint?
We are not a standard local newspaper. We won’t be covering crime logs or potholes.
Instead, we are documenting solutions.
We are dedicated to the philosophy of “Think Global, Act Local.” Every week, we will bring you stories about:
Sustainability: Locals who are reducing waste, growing food, and protecting our unique biodiversity.
Disaster Resilience: How neighbourhoods are preparing for fire seasons and extreme weather together.
Community Building: The makers, thinkers, and organisers weaving the social fabric that holds us together.
Local Stories, Global Lessons
While our stories are rooted in the soil of the Blue Mountains, our vision extends far beyond the Great Dividing Range.
We structure our journalism to serve two audiences:
For the Locals: We celebrate the unsung heroes in our towns - from Lapstone to Lithgow - and connect you with the projects making your home a better place.
For the World: We treat every local success story as a model. Whether you are reading this from Katoomba, California, or Cornwall, we extract the practical lessons so you can replicate these successes in your own community.
